UFC star Conor McGregor charged with six offenses after arrest for alleged dangerous driving

In news that shocked few who have followed his career, UFC star and former two-division champion Conor McGregor was arrested for alleged "dangerous driving" in the Palmerstown section of Dublin last month after he was stopped during a reported trip to the gym.

McGregor learned on Thursday's he's facing multiple charges.

Marc Raimondi of ESPN reports that McGregor appeared in Blanchardstown District Court on Thursday and was told he's being charged with two counts of dangerous driving, driving without a license, failure to produce a license, driving without insurance and failure to produce insurance records. McGregor's case will be remanded until June 23.

The 33-year-old has had multiple run-ins with the law since he became the face of the combat promotion in the second half of the 2010s. As Raimondi explained in March, McGregor threw a dolly through a bus window following a UFC media day event in 2018, and he pleaded guilty to assault in 2019 following an incident that reportedly involved the outspoken Irishman punching a man in the face at a bar.

McGregor again generated out-of-the-Octagon headlines last fall when Francesco Facchinetti, an Italian DJ and TV personality, claimed he'd been attacked by the former champion.

As for McGregor's career, he hasn't notched a victory since January 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic and has dropped three of his past four fights. On Thursday, he suggested via Twitter he'll compete in the welterweight division upon his return to action.

He hasn't fought since he suffered fractures of his tibia and fibula in a loss to Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 264 last summer.
