UFC Vegas 116: Full Fight Results, Winners, and Highlights

After back-to-back overseas events , the UFC was back at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, where fans saw a crucial featherweight main event fight. Aljamain Sterling delivered a high-level performance in the main event, defeating Youssef Zalal by dominant unanimous decision. Sterling used his wrestling to neutralize Zalal, and now ‘Funk Master’ could look for a rematch with Movsar Evloev.

In the co-main event, Joselyne Edwards scored the biggest win of her UFC career, defeating Norma Dumont by unanimous decision in a crucial bantamweight matchup. Many thought the decision was controversial, as Dumont looked shocked when the decision was announced.

Rafa Garcia put together another disciplined performance in Las Vegas, defeating Alexander Hernandez by unanimous decision. Garcia fought a clean and measured fight, controlling the first two rounds with pressure. With the win, Garcia had three straight victories.

Davey Grant defeated Adrian Luna Martinetti by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28). Grant started strong by attacking the lead leg and landing the cleaner boxing early, whereas Martinetti looked for hard exchanges. In the end, Grant earned the unanimous decision.

Raoni Barcelos pulled off a gritty split-decision win over Montel Jackson in a very close bantamweight battle. Barcelos defeated Jackson by split decision (29-28, 29-28). Ryan Spann made a serious statement at heavyweight by knocking out Marcus Buchecha Almeida in Round 2.

  • Jackson McVey defeated Sedriques Dumas by submission (D’arce choke) at 2:14 of Round 1
  • Michelle Montague defeated Mayra Bueno Silva by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Francis Marshall defeated Lucas Brennan by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
  • Victor Valenzuela defeated Max Griffin by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
  • Talita Alencar defeated Julia Polastri by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Overall, the event was a thriller. Fans didn’t see many knockouts or submissions, but the fights were interesting and top-level competition. Fans could expect more thrilling clashes at the next UFC fight, where Jack Della Maddalena would face Carlos Prates, with both fighters looking for a title shot against Islam Makhachev.
