Vallejos Trolls Sterling With Miragliotta Joke
USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Connect

Kevin Vallejos has taken a shot at Aljamain Sterling over the referee controversy that erupted at UFC Vegas 123.

Sterling had blasted official Dan Miragliotta for standing up Renato Moicano and Tom Nolan in the second round of their main event, a decision the former bantamweight champion called criminal. Nolan went on to finish Moicano in round three. Vallejos, who faces Sterling in the co-main at UFC Qatar on Nov. 21, joked on social media that UFC CEO Dana White had already told him Miragliotta would work their bout.

Sterling's Frustration With Miragliotta Sparks Troll

On his YouTube channel, Sterling said he nearly stormed the cage during the Vegas fight. "I felt like I was close to storming that cage," he said, per Sherdog. "I was angry, I was fuming. Even this morning, I was daydreaming: what possessed this man to do such a thing? Criminal." The complaint centered on Miragliotta breaking up Moicano's back control on Nolan, a position Sterling himself relies on in his grappling game.

Vallejos responded by writing on X that White had confirmed Miragliotta as the assigned official for their fight. The post was a clear dig at Sterling's grappling style and the controversy he sparked.

Vallejos is 18-1 and moving up to face Sterling, who holds a 26-5 record. The bout takes place at ABHA Arena in Doha.
