Volkanovski Training For Evloev Title Defense

Alexander Volkanovski is preparing for a title defense against Movsar Evloev despite no official booking.

The featherweight champion told fans on his YouTube channel that he considers the matchup inevitable and has begun working on his wrestling in Thailand to counter the undefeated Russian. "It's pretty obvious it's probably going to be Movsar," Volkanovski said, per Sherdog. "So, I get all that wrestling in nice and early."

Why Volkanovski Expects Evloev Next

Evloev was originally slated to fight Volkanovski after the Australian reclaimed the vacant belt against Diego Lopes last year. The UFC instead booked a rematch with Lopes, which Volkanovski won in January. Evloev has gone 10-0 inside the Octagon, with recent wins over Lerone Murphy, Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen and Lopes.

Volkanovski is in his second title reign after losing the belt to Ilia Topuria in 2024. He regained the vacant strap when Topuria moved up to lightweight. The Australian defended the featherweight title five times during his first run.

No timeline has been announced for Volkanovski's next defense.
