What’s Next For Darren Till?
Per Haljestam-Imagn Images

Darren Till made a statement by stopping former UFC champion Luke Rockhold in the third round at Misfits Boxing 22, as we look at his next steps.

The victory marked Till’s third professional boxing win, building on his perfect 2-0 record with previous victories over Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart. Till’s transition to boxing has been a successful one so far. While he has expressed an interest in returning to the UFC down the line, his recent performances suggest he is fully committed to his boxing career, as we explore his future.

Options

One of the options for Till is Tommy Fury. The two have a history, with a previously scheduled fight falling through. The grudge match between the two British fighters has a built-in narrative that would generate pay-per-view sales. Fury has a professional boxing record and a well-known name from his reality TV background. A victory over Fury would not only give Till bragging rights but also a major boost in his crossover boxing career.

Another potential opponent is Jake Paul. Paul has built his career on fighting former MMA stars, and Till’s recent knockout victory makes him a logical choice. A fight between the two would be a massive event, pitting a pure boxer-turned-influencer against a knockout-artist from MMA. Till’s heavy hands and southpaw stance could pose a unique challenge for Paul.

A more unexpected, but equally interesting, option for Till is a matchup with legendary British boxer Carl Froch. Till made headlines immediately after his win over Rockhold by calling out Froch at ringside. While Froch is retired and has often been dismissive of crossover boxing, Froch could be tempted if the money is right. A fight against a legitimate boxing legend like Froch would be a huge step up in competition. In his post-fight comments after the Rockhold win, Till called out Froch who has now responded.

Till’s Aim

“Where is Carl Froch? Come on in this ring. You got so much to say on your little YouTube channel with 10k viewers. Get in this ring. He’s not about that life,” Till said

“My ears are pricking up, am I getting the itch? I’ve probably got a bit of a decision to make in my own head, do I want to get back into the professional ring again? “I’ll do a little bit of sparring and I’ll go and see Rob McCracken up in Sheffield and see how I feel.

“At the moment I’ve got no desire to fight but seeing the atmosphere, the event that Misfits put on and hearing people talking about the fight as a potential, I would be stupid not to give it some thought. “This is the fight game, this is the entertainment business and there is a potential for the Cobra to step back into the ring,” Froch replied
