Dana White praised Alexander Volkanovski after the featherweight champion stopped Movsar Evloev in the second round at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi.
Volkanovski, 38, answered questions about his longevity with a dominant finish over the previously unbeaten Evloev this past Saturday. White credited the Australian's aggression and finishing instinct despite facing a younger opponent, according to MMA Junkie.
The UFC president addressed whether Volkanovski could challenge lightweight champion Justin Gaethje in what some view as a potential superfight. White noted that given what Volkanovski has accomplished in his career, the promotion would be open to the matchup once Gaethje recovers from hand injuries expected to sideline him into 2027.
Arman Tsarukyan currently stands as the consensus number one contender at 155 pounds. Whether he waits for Gaethje or the UFC books Volkanovski first remains unclear.
Volkanovski has floated the idea of a bout with Gaethje serving as a retirement fight for both men if the timing feels right. The win over Evloev marked his 29th career victory and further cemented his status as one of the division's all-time greats.
