A good show with the ball has enabled Sunrisers Hyderabad to restrict Chennai Super Kings to a total of 165/5. It’s a pitch where the slower balls are gripping and as per the second half of the innings, the batters found it really difficult to time their shots. Rachin Ravindra fell early trying to play a cross-batted stroke. Ruturaj Gaikwad looked promising but wasted his start.
Shivam Dube walked in and did his reputation of being a spin basher complete justice. Surprisingly, Pat Cummins asked his spinners to bowl two overs to him and that allowed him to blaze off. Rahane played some eye-catching strokes but once the ball got a bit older and SRH pacers began employing the slower balls, he found it difficult to score and eventually perished.
Cummins then sent back the dangerous Dube with a short ball. Two new batters at the crease allowed the hosts to control the show. Daryl Mitchell struggled but Ravindra Jadeja played a decent hand to give the finishing touches. All the SRH pacers were miserly and picked up a wicket each. SRH do have the firepower but CSK also have the arsenal to contain them on a slowish pitch.
The powerplay will be crucial. SRH would look to go hard in the first six overs. Meanwhile, the Impact player, Travis Head is all geared up, ready to walk in with Abhishek Sharma by his side. T Natarajan has been substituted. Meanwhile for CSK, Dube makes way for Mukesh Choudhary, the Impact sub.
