Patrick Mahomes‘ actions after the narrow 20-17 loss against the Buffalo Bills indicated that he was unhappy with the officiating. The Kansas City Chiefs went into the Sunday night game suffering a defeat at the hands of the Green Bay Packers last week and were looking to redeem themselves by winning their ninth game of the season.

It was the Bills who kicked things off with a couple of quickfire touchdowns orchestrated by quarterback Josh Allen. The Chiefs finally woke up from their slumber just one minute before the break to reduce the deficit.

Rookie wide receiver Rashee Rice closed the gap further with a 4-yard TD. The Chiefs had a very good opportunity to take the lead for the first time in the game late in the fourth quarter. After a short snap, Mahomes checked back and forwarded Travis Kelce open in the midfield.

However, as two Bills defenders closed in on him from either side, the tight end had the brilliant idea of throwing a lateral pass to a wide-open Kadarius Toney. The wide receiver caught the ball and ran into the end zone to secure a touchdown. As Arrowhead erupted in celebration, a yellow flag was thrown onto the turf.

The offense pulled the playback and adjudged the play by the Chiefs as offensive offside against Toney. As a result, the Chiefs lost back-to-back games for the first time since the tail end of the 1-5 start in 2015. On October 11th, they lost against the Chicago Bears, and then 7 days later, they lost to the Minnesota Vikings.

Patrick Mahomes couldn’t process how the refs called an offside. He was caught yelling,

What the hell! Offensive offside? That's fu**** terrible, man!

Social media advises Patrick Mahomes to accept the defeat like a professional

The Chiefs are the reigning Super Bowl champions, which means they are used to winning games. Sometimes it’s hard for serial winners to accept the outcome of a game, considering they believe it was a game for the taking.

A section of social media pointed out that Mahomes should be yelling at Toney instead of the refs for staying offside in the first place. “Not sure what Bro’s problem is; he should be yelling at Toney.”

The 28-year-old’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, came to his support, posting a short clip on her Instagram. She was later trolled for taking a dig at the referee.

With the Bills’ loss, the Chiefs are now 8-5 and sit in the third spot for the AFC Playoff seed. Next, they will face the New England Patriots.
