Palisades Tahoe, California's largest ski resort by skiable acres, recently announced their targeted opening day for the Winter '24/'25 season.

Officials at Palisades Tahoe wrote on June 30th, 2024 , "just 150 more days until the 2024/25 season begins! Opening Day is scheduled for November 27th, weather and conditions permitting, of course. With the longest season in Tahoe, even in the heat of summer - winter is never far away."

This winter, Palisades was open until about 5 weeks ago (May 27th, to be exact). See below.

Although the season started off slow, perhaps thanks to El Niño, next season is slated to be a La Niña. Many skiers are hoping this means another season like 2022/23, where Palisades Tahoe received 723 inches of snowfall.

However, despite the slow start to the season this past winter, things picked up and even the famed (and rarely spun) Silverado Lift was able to open later in the season.

While we wait for snow (we do have almost 5 months, give or take) there are many fun summer activities in Tahoe. The 4th of July, which is coming right up, offers free pancakes at Truckee Fire Station 92, a fun-run dubbed the Firecracker Mile (a 1-mile along the parade route for runners of all levels), and the day tops off with a fireworks show over Donner Lake at 9:30pm.

Throughout the summer, First Street Yoga, the free yoga class outside of Palisades Tahoe, runs every Wednesday, as well as Bluesdays, the free outdoor blues music on Tuesdays, just the day before.

There is plenty of time to tone up and chill out for next season before we are heating up and hitting some bone-chilling lines as they start to fill in.
