Nick Cassidy finished third for Jaguar in Race 2 at Formula E’s Monaco E-Prix, marking his first podium of 2025.

A Podium but a Lack of Points: A Mixed Weekend for Jaguar in Monaco

Jaguar experienced a mixed weekend at the 2025 Monaco E-Prix, which featured two races instead of the usual one. While Cassidy secured a podium finish, problems meant Evans failed to score any points.

A Monaco Podium

Following a disastrous Race 1 due to an energy issue, Nick Cassidy had an excellent Race 2 for Jaguar in Monaco. He moved through the field from 14th to third in challenging wet-to-dry conditions.

Cassidy built an energy advantage early on, yielding late progress, which was different to his early attack mode in Race 1.

This third-place finish meant that he scored his first podium of Season 11, bringing much-needed joy to Jaguar. Cassidy will be glad to have scored big points, which also saw him climb up the drivers’ standings to 13th.

Similarly, Jaguar moved to seventh in the Teams’ World Championship and third in the Manufacturers’ standings. These improvements will motivate Jaguar regarding their desire to score more points as the season progresses.

Cassidy had an exciting battle with Dan Ticktum, whom he bested in the end.

“I really made sure that I gave him a car’s width on the inside but he’s tried to outbrake me and I’ve had much better traction because I was on four-wheel drive,

“I braked as late as I could and I’ve got a really good car on systems on the brakes.

“I think he just applied maybe that bit too much brake pressure, locked the front and he was gone.

“I was quite proud of myself that I could trick him into that and then get the place so that was I think a good turning point.” – Cassidy speaking to The Race

Evans Fails to Score Points in Monaco

Mitch Evans was on track to do well in Race 1 in Monaco, sitting in the top 10 for most of the race. However, his car had a battery issue, which saw him head into the pits to restart.

This was a shame for Evans, who was on track to score some big points. The team have famously struggled with the GEN3 EVO.

The following day, he performed well in FP3, finishing at the top for Jaguar. With sprinkles of rain emerging, the Kiwi kept calm and set a fastest lap of 1m26.614s in this 55-minute session.

Sadly, he qualified poorly again for Race 2 and could not rise through the field as he did in Race 1.

Jaguar used a different strategy with Evans. However, it failed to work as he finished in 18th place. While this poor performance in Monaco will be on Evans’ mind, he must reflect and move forward for the next race.

The Jaguar driver will look to end this run of six consecutive no points finishes and do well at the double header in Tokyo.

Both Jaguar Drivers Still Struggle to Qualify Well

Evans, Cassidy, and the team are still getting to grips with the Jaguar I‑TYPE 7.

Evans qualified in eighth for Race 1 and 17th for Race 2, with one start in the top 10. Elsewhere, Cassidy qualified 19th for Race 1 and 14th for Race 2, showing his poor performance.

If they wish to improve, these results must be addressed by the team. Advancing in qualifying was rather easy for the Jaguar drivers in the GEN 3 era, but this new era has befuddled them.

Therefore, more work must be done back at base in Coventry to test and learn more about their car if they want to fight for the Formula E championship.
