Marc Marquez has a clear reason to be hopeful for the Brazilian Grand Prix

Gresini’s Alex Marquez saying “watch out” for Goiania’s left-hand corners has given Ducati’s Marc Marquez his biggest reason to be hopeful for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

MotoGP is back in Goiania for the first time since 1989 this week, as the series revives the Brazilian GP after more than 30 years away. A win here would be Marquez’s 23rd different circuit victory and mark his 100th career win across all classes.

The track isn’t expected to suit him, though. Goiania leans heavily towards right-hand corners, with nine in total compared to just five lefts. The opening right-hander is so long it counts as two separate turns on paper, and there’s a stretch where riders only turn left between Turns 5 and 10.

Marquez has always been strong in left-hand corners, a trait that has contributed to his long-standing dominance at the German Grand Prix. Few riders match the pace he maintains through those turns.

Alex Marquez’s remarks about the Goiania circuit add another layer of interest to the weekend. According to him, it’s the left-hand corners that will be crucial, particularly Turn 10.

Speaking to AS, Alex explained: “There are few left-hand corners. But the ones there are, watch out, they’re the important ones. For me, they’re the most difficult.”

Marc Marquez: Goiania’s track favors riders who like right-hand turns, not his own strengths

Turn 10 is the slowest out of the five left-hand corners in Goiania, and it may be where Marc Marquez can make the biggest difference judging by Alex Marquez’s prediction ahead of the Brazilian GP. Turn 5 might also be another left-hand turn where Marc can make a difference.

But while Alex expects the left-hand turns to be the most challenging corners in Goiania this week, Marc does not believe the Brazilian GP venue has the “best” layout for his riding style. The seven-time MotoGP champion thinks the number of right-hand turns might be an issue.

Additionally, Marc likens the Goiania track to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where Alex Marquez beat his brother to win the 2025 Catalan Grand Prix. Alex even secured pole with a 0.409s advantage over Marc in P3 in Montmelo, but Marc won the Sprint after Alex crashed.

Marc Marquez said, via The Race: “I would like to have more left corners, obviously. But the layout looks nice. It’s true that it’s not best layout for my riding style. These right corners are quite similar to Barcelona and Barcelona is not a good circuit for me.”
