The Haas F1 Team quietly carved out a unique place in Formula One since joining the grid in 2016. It did so by blending unconventional partnerships with steady competitiveness. As the team prepares for a pivotal 2026 season — featuring its first in-house chassis and a reshaped technical structure — Haas enters a new era built around long-term ambition, evolving leadership, and a driver lineup combining rising talent with proven experience.

Team History

In 2014, longtime NASCAR team owner Gene Haas announced the formation of a Formula One team that would begin competing in the 2016 FIA Formula One Championship.  Dallara designed and built the chassis, while Ferrari supplied the power units. Guenther Steiner was appointed Team Principal.

The Haas F1 Team made an impressive debut in 2016, scoring points in three of the first eight races. The team’s best result that season came at the Bahrain Grand Prix, where Romain Grosjean finished fifth.

Since its inaugural year, Haas’ best individual race results have been fourth-place finishes at the 2018 Austrian Grand Prix and the 2025 Mexico City Grand Prix. In addition the team achieved its highest Constructors’ Championship position in 2018, finishing fifth overall. That same season also marked the team’s best Drivers’ Championship result, with Kevin Magnussen finishing ninth.

On January 10th, 2024, Guenther Steiner was replaced by Ayao Komatsu as Team Principal. In October 2024, Toyota, through Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR), entered into a multi-year technical partnership with the Haas F1 Team. The collaboration was further strengthened in 2025 when TGR became the team’s title sponsor.

An All-New Car for 2026

For the 2026 season, Haas F1 Team will introduce an all-new chassis designed and built in-house for the first time in the team’s history. Toyota Gazoo Racing, as a technical partner, contributed its expertise to the development and refinement of the chassis. Power units for the 2026 car will continue to be supplied by Ferrari.

For the 2024 Formula One season, both MoneyGram Haas F1 Team and Scuderia Ferrari designated Bearman as their reserve driver.
