Ramon Forcada says Ducati lacks ‘clear vision’ as Marc Marquez continues injury struggles

Marc Marquez hasn’t looked like himself to start the 2026 season. The defending world champion still looks to be working through his recovery, and Ducati riders in general are having trouble getting to grips with the bike.

So far, Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia have had it all their own way, with the Italian winning each of the first three races of 2026. Ducati’s top finisher this season has been Fabio Di Giannantonio, while Marquez continues to struggle with fitness.

After the United States Grand Prix, he didn’t shy away from admitting things aren’t right yet. He crashed during practice, took out Diggia in the Sprint race and finished fifth in Sunday’s race after serving a long lap penalty.

He also picked up an injury during that accident. He dislocated his right shoulder, but also hurt his forearm quite badly as well.

There’s also the ongoing issue with the bike itself. Ducati riders are finding it difficult to get a feel for this year’s machine, which has shown up clearly in early results: there hasn’t been a single podium finish for any of their riders in two of the three opening rounds.

Ducati’s struggles in 2026 are clear, and Ramon Forcada thinks Marquez’s injury is a big reason why

Speaking to Duralavita, Forcada pointed out that the lack of a consistent vision was an issue, especially with all the Ducati riders struggling to get comfortable on the bike.

“With all the bikes Ducati has, the problem is that it doesn’t have a clear vision. It has two that are the same and all the others are different. There’s no precise reference point,” he said.

“Everything is so balanced that everything has changed. Those who were comfortable before are no longer. Alex isn’t finding his rhythm, Fermin Aldeguer is still a mystery, Franky is far off, Marc and Pecco too, and it seems the only one truly comfortable is Di Giannantonio.

“I don’t know how much of it is the bike, but Marc has a lot of work to do. We haven’t really seen him at ease or confident this year. For me, it’s a problem linked to his injury and you can tell from his body language too. If the team leader isn’t at 100%, the team loses its direction.”

Is 2026 too early to doubt Marc Marquez and Ducati?

There is still plenty of time for both Ducati and Marquez to get back on track. The 2026 season is only three races in, and with a month-long break before the next round in Jerez, he has a real opportunity to regain full fitness.

But following his latest setback in Austin, there are some questions about whether he’ll be able to get back to his best.

Andrea Dovizioso has noted that Marquez’s shoulder injury might be more serious than initially thought, and so far this season, he hasn’t made it onto the Sunday podium.

This year, Aprilia have come out strong. Unless Marquez and Ducati can turn things around soon, it might be Aprilia’s title to lose.
