An Arizona native will lead the NASCAR Xfinity Series field to green in Saturday's GOVX 200 at Phoenix Raceway.
NASCAR Cup Series regular and Tucson, Arizona, native Alex Bowman won the pole for Saturday's race and will be joined on the front row by Sheldon Creed, who is still searching for his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series win.
Bowman is behind the wheel of Hendrick Motorsports' No. 17 entry this weekend at Phoenix.
Sammy Smith, Connor Zilisch and Jesse Love rounded out the top-five, with William Sawalich, Nick Sanchez, Aric Almirola, Taylor Gray and Austin Hill completing the top-10.
Bowman drives the No. 48 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Cup Series on a full-time basis. He has won eight Cup Series races in his career, and his only Xfinity Series victory came at Charlotte in 2017 with Chip Ganassi Racing.
The GOVX 200 will go green shortly after 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, with coverage on the CW, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Pre-race coverage will begin at 4:30 p.m. ET on the CW and MRN.
Chandler Smith is the defending winner of the spring Xfinity Series race at Phoenix, while Riley Herbst emerged victorious when the circuit visited Phoenix in November. Neither of those drivers are in the field for Saturday's race.
