Danica Patrick bizarrely rips Martin Truex Jr. for statement after death of longtime girlfriend

Danica Patrick hasn't raced in NASCAR since 2018 but has had a presence in the sport the last couple of seasons with her voice, working as a guest analyst for several races during Fox's broadcast portion of the schedule.

The 41-year-old former driver made her voice heard loud and clear during a post on Instagram on Monday when she surprisingly questioned Martin Truex Jr. for his public statement following the death of longtime partner Sherry Pollex, calling the Joe Gibbs Racing driver's remarks "cold" and "insensitive."

Truex issued his statement just hours after it was announced that Pollex, 44, died from cancer after a lengthy battle with the disease. In his remarks, the driver talked about how his former girlfriend made a big difference in the lives of others battling the disease in her work with the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation and her own Sherry Strong Foundation.

"I would like to extend my deepest condolences to her entire family, who have shown incredible strength and resilience throughout the battle," his statement concluded.

Patrick's remarks were a dramatic shift in tone from what she said earlier on Instagram about Pollex, talking about how while battling cancer "she helped so many and gave so much," which was similar to Truex's statement. The former driver said she touched based with Pollex "here and there" and loved her "curiosity for the deeper layers of this human experience."

Unsurprisingly, Patrick's harsh comments criticizing Truex caused many to question why she had so much vitriol toward the 2017 champion. No one could come up with any answers.

One thing is for certain — based on the response, it's not a good look for Patrick.
