Bubba Wallace paces NASCAR Cup Series practice in Chicago

If you need more proof of Bubba Wallace's improvement on road courses in NASCAR Cup Series competition, look no further than the results of Saturday's practice session at the Chicago Street Course.

Wallace topped the speed chart with a fastest lap of 90.951 seconds.

William Byron, Chase Elliott, Ty Gibbs and Michael McDowell rounded out the top-five, with Carson Hocevar, Shane van Gisbergen, Chris Buescher, Tyler Reddick and Brad Keselowski completing the top-10.

Other notable practice results include defending Chicago winner Alex Bowman in 11th, Will Brown in 12th, Kyle Larson in 15th, Ryan Blaney in 18th and defending Cup Series champion Joey Logano in 33rd. Cody Ware was the slowest driver to take time.

While Byron was second on the speed chart, he suffered significant damage during the session after hitting the wall on the exit of turn 10.

Denny Hamlin did not complete a lap in practice after blowing an engine shortly after he went out on track. Hamlin will not make a qualifying lap.

Qualifying is next on truTV, and with 41 entries attempting to make the field, one team will miss the race. The Grant Park 165 will go green shortly after 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, with coverage on TNT, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. The In-Season Challenge Alt-Cast will be available on truTV.
