Contact between Carson Hocevar and Austin Cindric during Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway ended Cindric's day after the front end of his No. 2 Team Penske Ford was heavily damaged.
After racing in lockstep for several laps, Hocevar appeared to brake check Cindric multiple times, though the deciding blow came on the exit of turn 2 on Lap 212.
Cindric made his frustration clear over the radio, saying that Hocevar had "a mental breakdown". He took his car to the garage and finished the race in 36th.
After being ruled out, Cindric did not offer comment to the media.

"Just Martinsville," Hocevar told reporters on pit road post-race. "Everyone's running hard and making moves and stuff. I don't know. It's just Martinsville. Sometimes you're getting hit, sometimes you're causing it. I had fun... I just felt like it was normal Martinsville racing. Everybody's trying to move people.
"Everyone's going to be hitting behind him and everyone's going to be hitting behind me. Just tough on the restarts."

Sunday's race was the first at Martinsville since NASCAR softened the front bumpers of cars at short tracks in June. Josh Berry and Ryan Blaney had a similar incident on Sunday, with Berry brake-checking Blaney and Blaney saying post-race that Berry "lost his mind."
