Complacency not in Tyler Reddick's vocabulary during second half of NASCAR's regular season

Tyler Reddick could spend this weekend at the beach eating a sponge cake rather than racing at Nashville Superspeedway and still have at least a 46-point lead over Denny Hamlin in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.

Reddick's white-hot start through the first 13 races of the 2026 campaign, in which he's won five races, scored nine top fives and finished inside the top 10 ten times, has allowed him to open up a 122-point cushion over Hamlin halfway through the Cup Series' 26-race regular season.

Barring a disastrous collapse from the No. 45 team and a herculean effort from Hamlin over the next 13 races, Reddick will be the No. 1 seed going into the 10-race Chase for the championship this fall.

But complacency will not be a part of those next 13 races for Reddick, who seems frustrated that more victories haven't materialized. He finished fourth in the Coca-Cola 600 after leading 119 laps from the pole.

Tyler Reddick won't be complacent

"I know it sounds ridiculous coming from the guy's who's won five races [and is] leading the points, but it's important we stay hungry and continue to search to keep improving," Reddick said Wednesday on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. "We gotta capitalize on days like the 600 and find a way to get to victory lane when we have that kind of speed. We've been able to gain on everyone except Denny. It is important to continue to win races. We're trying to stay focused on that."

Nashville has been a good track for Reddick in recent years. He led 33 laps at the 1.33-mile Tennessee track in 2023 and has finishes of third and ninth at the venue in his last two starts.

Another top-10 effort for Reddick on Sunday evening would surely keep his points lead in triple digits and only bolster his chances of bringing home the regular-season title.
