Corey Heim was involved in a massive incident with Brad Keselowski on the 132nd lap of the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. He made his second start of the 2025 season in Nashville and had to call it quits early with no points in hand. As such, despite losing massively in the race, the No.67 driver still showcased great sportsmanship and apologized to Keselowski, taking the blame for the crash.
The Nashville race marked just the second race start for Corey Heim in the 2025 season after finishing P13 in his first race in Kansas. Heim remained on the backfoot of the entire race after starting in P33 in Nashville. Still, he was fighting for a P12 finish and could’ve made it into the top 10 if it weren’t for the mid-race collision with Brad Keselowski.
Corey Heim recalls the incident and what he thought at the moment that contributed to the collision. The 22-year-old reckoned that he was clear of Keselowski’s car and could overtake the latter. The No.67 driver accepted that his move was a bit too desperate in the moment and was completely uncalled for.
I’m pretty sure I just kind of cleared myself across the nose of (Brad Keselowski). A little bit too desperate.
Corey Heim told NBC Sports.
Heim pointed out that he was driving really well up until the moment of the crash, as he had a lot of confidence in his Camry. The No.67 driver felt that he could have cleared Brad Keselowski on the track and moved up the pecking order. However, some miscalculations from the 22-year-old wrecked both drivers and ended their race early.
For this, Heim remained apologetic and clarified that he had no intentions to wreck either of their races. The 23XI driver reiterated his sorrow and noted that he never wanted to ruin Keselowski’s day on the track.
We were moving forward really quick and I had a lot of confidence in my Camry and thought I could clear him by the time I got to the wall, and just used too much racetrack, so sorry to those guys. It looks like I kind of ruined his day, too, and never want to do that.
Corey Heim noted.
The part-time 23XI driver was the one to witness at the Nashville Speedway as he achieved a great turnaround in results from the qualifying session. Corey Heim gained over 11 positions on the track and was on par for achieving even more if he hadn’t crashed. Hence, now, even after crashing out early, Heim lists out the positives to take from the disappointing weekend.
Corey Heim reckoned that he couldn’t compliment the No.67 Camry’s speed enough. The 22-year-old believed that if he didn’t start 33rd, he would have had a great shot at finishing P10 or better. Still, as depicted by the race, he crashed out and couldn’t achieve such results. As such, Heim accepts screwing up in the end despite behind extremely thankful of the 23XI crew for their efforts in Nashville.
Just can’t say enough about the speed we had. I think if we didn’t start in 33rd, we could have been battling in the top 10. A lot of positives, just screwed it up on my part. Huge thank you to 23XI, Toyota. Definitely had a lot of fun, and looking forward to doing again.
Corey Heim noted.
Heim remained the bigger person and took complete blame on himself, as it tells a lot about his personality. The No.67 driver has remained strong in his efforts to score well and has proved his racing mettle on the grid. The 23XI driver will not aim to gain a full-time seat in the sport if he can race incident-free at NASCAR. Time will tell what things are written in the 22-year-old’s career as he aims to minimize such avoidable incidents.
