Kaulig Racing has long been assumed to be the organization Dodge would partner with for its now-confirmed return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027, but another team could be in the mix.
After Trackhouse Racing driver Shane van Gisbergen said changes were coming to the organization in a post-race interview with reporters following Sunday's race at Martinsville, Trackhouse owner Justin Marks was asked what those changes could be during his weekly Monday interview on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
"This is no different than what I've been saying, really like the last month, month and a half," Marks said. "We are making changes, but it's really focused on the competition side. We have got some amazing talent coming into this race team. We have a couple of really, really good things that I just want so badly to talk about right now, but I just can't yet. I just can't yet.
"The point is, we have identified where in the organization improvements need to be made, investments need to be made, and those are all starting to come to fruition. And I think that the fact that Shane said it and you haven't heard anything from us is an indication of how excited we are about what's transpiring behind the scenes. I think we're all just super confident and excited about 2027. At the end of the day, this is about this race team being as successful as it possibly can and we're all excited about that."
Like Kaulig, Trackhouse is currently a Chevrolet team.
Trackhouse has struggled to find consistent speed on ovals in 2026, and a manufacturer change could be the shake-up the organization needs to find a spark and get back on track. Switching to Dodge could also afford Trackhouse a fourth entry on the grid, and with a talented veteran driver in Brad Keselowski on the free-agent market this offseason, adding a champion could also be a major step for Trackhouse as it seeks to get back to victory lane on a consistent basis.
