Dale Earnhardt Jr. is interested to see how things will play out between Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez after their incident at Sonoma this past weekend. On Dale Jr. Download, Earnhardt shared his reaction to Chastain spinning his Trackhouse Racing teammate during Lap 49 of the race.

“Chastain f***ed up. Let’s get that clear,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said. “But if the 99 [Suarez] doesn’t block, he doesn’t get run over. More than likely, he can battle around the outside and maintain and hold the spot through the front straightaway, the end to the left through the front straightaway, and Chastain doesn’t get by.

Earnhardt then said that the incident between Ross Chastain and Daniel Suarez is a bigger deal because they’re teammates. Additionally, Suarez recently learned that Trackhouse Racing is not bringing him back for the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season, which has led him to feel “less than,” “unwanted,” and “rejected,” according to Earnhardt.

Where will Daniel Suarez race in 2026?

Earnhardt then shared his thoughts on what happens to Suarez after the 2025 season. “I don’t know really what opportunities he’s got in Cup to stay in Cup,” Earnhardt stated. “What openings are there? Where would he go that would be like a, ‘Hell yeah, this is just as good.’ A lateral move at least.”

Suarez was not happy about being spun by Chastain, telling his team, “You better hope I don’t get to him today.” Despite the incident, Suarez finished 14th, and Chastain finished 27th. After the race, Suarez said he was looking to have a conversation with his teammate, or, “He’s gonna get it back.” Chastain left Sonoma without comment.

Earlier this month, Trackhouse Racing announced that it will be parting ways with Suarez at the end of the season. “The role Daniel has played in the Trackhouse origin story and its first five years will remain a valued part of the company’s history forever,” Trackhouse owner Justin Marks said in a statement. “His commitment, work ethic and dedication to the effort is one of the most impressive things I personally have seen in my career. We will forever be thankful and honored that Daniel chose to spend many incredible years with us.”
