One of the most iconic paint schemes in NASCAR history is returning. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is bringing back the Bud x MLB No. 8. Budweiser and baseball, it just doesn’t get better than that, folks!
The new throwback paint scheme isn’t for a NASCAR race, but for the CARS Tour Late Model Stock car. The paint scheme will help promote the Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway between the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds.
It feels like 2001 all over again. Seriously, who doesn’t love this car? Now, where can we see this car actually on a race track?

JR Motorsports has announced that Dale Earnhardt Jr. will race this car in the CARS Tour. He will be taking on the competition at Anderson Motor Speedway later this year in August. That is about 3 hours south of Bristol Motor Speedway.
The CARS Tour travels up and down the Carolinas and the Atlantic Coast, racing at short tracks. Recently, the series debuted in front of a cable TV audience as part of the NASCAR All-Star Race week festivities at North Wilkesboro.
You put Dale Jr. on the track anywhere, and it will be a sellout. With this paint scheme on the track, you are going to have to have armed guards to hold back the masses of people trying to file into Anderson Motor Speedway.
Using his past and current fame and notoriety, Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to promote and support the CARS Tour in a big way. As a co-owner of the series, it makes sense, but in the last year, it has taken off to another level entirely.
NASCAR fans remember that 2001 MLB All-Star and Budweiser paint scheme. Dale Jr.’s first trip back to Daytona after the death of his father at that very same track earlier in the year. Not only did the young driver show up and compete, he went out there and won the damn race in one of the most emotional sports moments in American history.
Getting the No. 8 DEI font trademark last year was massive for Dale Jr. and the CARS Tour. Earnhardt now has rights to make Budweiser merch with the old No. 8 logo, run paint schemes like this and the all-red Bud car, and continue to promote his own brand to the benefit of stock car racing everywhere.
CARS Tour on FS1 is the first step. Getting an MLB sponsorship on the track in a CARS Tour race? That might be worth even more than or just as much as cable TV. What other exciting things are around the corner for Earnhardt?
