Dale Earnhardt Jr. wasn't always on Dale Sr.'s good side, he made that clear during the latest episode of his podcast.
Last week, Prime Video released a trailer for its upcoming docuseries called "Earnhardt." It'll dive into the history of Dale Earnhardt and his incredible NASCAR career, which included 76 victories in the Cup Series. This docuseries will premiere on May 22.
Dale Jr. opened up about his relationship with Dale Sr. for Prime Video's docuseries. He had nothing but kind things to say about his father.
"I admired everything about my dad," Dale Jr. said. "I admired how dedicated he was to racing."
That being said, Earnhardt did recall one moment where his father was frustrated by his actions.
Prior to attending an All-Star Race, Earnhardt purchased a shirt that his father didn't approve of. He shared this story on the newest episode of "Dale Jr. Download."
"I do remember getting my [expletive] busted by my dad once," Dale Jr. said. "Dad and Bill Elliott duked it out in the All-Star Race. I kept seeing these shirts that had blue and yellow and red and gold marks. It said, 'Guess who ran into me today?' I looked at those shirts and said, 'Man, that's neat. I want one of them.' I somehow had 20 bucks to get one of them shirts.
"I put that shirt on and saw someone airbrushing shirts at the racetrack. I wanted to get the No. 3 airbrushed on my shirt. In my mind, I'm thinking I made the shirt dad's car. Guess who ran into me? Bill Elliott. We get done [expletive] around on the dirt track and go back over to my dad's. He saw that shirt and went through the roof. He didn't see it the way I saw it."
NASCAR fans absolutely loved hearing this story from Dale Jr. and his father. After all, it's a harmless story that shows just how locked in Dale Sr. was during his career.
