Dawsonville Pool Room sounds si-reen for first time in nearly two years after Chase Elliott’s win at Texas
Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Dawsonville Pool Room was happy to see Chase Elliott get his first NASCAR Cup Series race victory of the season. When the NASCAR star finished first at the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday, the restaurant sounded the “si-reen” for the first time in nearly two years.

The last time the Dawsonville Pool Room used the “si-reen” was in October 2022 when Elliott won a playoff race at Talladega Superspeedway. The Dawsonville Pool Room is located in Dawsonville, Georgia, where Elliott grew up.

After the race, Elliott showed his appreciation to the fans and Hooters. “First off thanks to everybody that came out; you guys are unbelievable,” he said. “What a… Hooters has been a partner of ours for a number of years now and it’s been a dream of mine to pay respect to the late Alan Kulwicki and driving this car to a victory and being able to do a Polish victory lap and just really crazy how things came full circle there in that moment. It was pretty emotional for me.”

Elliott also talked about the challenges he faced on Sunday. “It was just crazy,” Elliott said about the race. “This place is just so sketchy and I haven’t seen a replay of Denny and us, I don’t really know, I don’t feel like I did anything super crazy there anymore than anybody’s ever done to me. Just had the run forward and I want to look at it but I don’t feel like I did anything to crash him, I think just the circumstances. But nonetheless apologies to him if so.”

Chase Elliott is popular with NASCAR fans

Elliott has put together a strong NASCAR career. He won the Cup Series title in 2020, claimed the 2022 regular season title in 2022 and has been named NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver the last six years. Before the start of the 2022 season, Elliott signed a five-year contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports.

“Look, it’s really all you can ask for, I think, from my standpoint,” Elliott told PopCulture.com at the time. “The boss really changed the course of my life when he came in and said he wanted to help. I think, for me, I just want to do my part for him. He has pretty much given me about everything I have. So I think, at this point, I want to do my part for my team and for Hendrick Motorsports as an organization and for him. I think that’s the very least I can do.”
