23XI co-owner Denny Hamlin had no problem calling out Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his team following NASCAR's Xfinity Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday.
Justin Allgaier, who led 99 laps at the Andy's Frozen Custard 300, relinquished his lead to Kyle Larson and was never able to get it back — falling all the way to P35 following a race-ending crash.
On a recent episode of his "Actions Detrimental" podcast, Hamlin offered his take on what went wrong for Allgaier and he feels a lot of it had to do with his pit crew and their gameplan.
"They just didn't pit him at the right time… Allgaier was in some traffic, and then he was getting held up by that traffic. They ran him out there for three or four laps. Allgaier was dropping six-tenths battling with these guys," Denny said.
Hamlin also noted Larson's aggressiveness once he was able to secure the lead. Saying of the Cup Series regular: "I almost tweeted out that with almost 40-50 [laps] to go, that guy is trying to do that thing again, which is lap the field. It was consistent."
Larson placed first after beating out Taylor Gray, Riley Herbst, Austin Hill and Sam Mayer to take the checkered flag in Fort Worth.
Next up for the Cup Series is a Mother's Day race on Sunday at Kansas Speedway while the Xfinity drivers will fire up their engines Saturday, May 24 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Larson is currently No. 2 on the NASCAR leaderboard with 408 points, a pair of wins, seven top-5 finishes and eight top-10s.
