Denny Hamlin reveals Kyle Busch's reaction to crash with John Hunter Nemechek at Texas

Kyle Busch was involved in a late-race crash at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race after contact with John Hunter Nemechek on the backstretch led to Busch dumping Nemechek in the next corner with two laps to go.

Busch, who ran in the top 10 for much of Sunday's Wurth 400, faded to a 20th-place finish after what appeared to be intentional contact with Nemechek in turn 3 that led to Nemechek hitting the wall and finishing 21st, one lap down.

In several social media posts on Sunday, Busch argued his case, saying that Nemechek did not know where he was running on the racetrack prior to the first instance of contact between them.

Denny Hamlin had a blunt take on the crash on Monday's episode of his podcast, "Actions Detrimental."

Denny Hamlin's point of view

"As far as the incident, I didn't see anything, no matter who's at fault for what on the [backstretch] — what happened in turn 3 was certainly unacceptable," Hamlin said. "It should be viewed that way as unacceptable... He lost his sh-- going into turn 3, clearly."

Hamlin then gave his opinion on whether or not Busch should face a penalty from NASCAR following the incident. Any decision from the sanctioning body regarding a penalty would come out on Tuesday.

"I don't know," Hamlin said. "Does NASCAR just kind of use their common sense judgment? Or do they say there's not enough evidence? I don't know that Kyle's refuting it. It was not a good situation."

Busch certainly couldn't afford a suspension or points penalty, given that he's mired in 26th in the standings following Sunday's race.
