Denny Hamlin shares update on recovery from shoulder injury

During the offseason, Denny Hamlin had surgery on his shoulder to repair an injury he had dealt with throughout the season. That surgery fixed the NASCAR driver up, but he had a long recovery timeline.

Denny Hamlin kept saying it would take months for his shoulder to get back to 100%. It appears, at least for now, that it isn’t bothering him. Whether that means it is as good as it was prior to the injury in 2023, I’m not sure.

At the very least, Hamlin isn’t being hindered by pain or weakness. Hamlin talked about the toll a race takes on a driver on his Actions Detrimental podcast.

“It takes its toll a lot. And for me, physically now, it’s more on my back, more than anything,” Hamlin said. “Just kind of riding in that position that I’m riding in in the seat and taking bumps and stuff and with us being on our shock limiters all the time it makes it pretty tough. But it just takes me about a day or two to recover and then I’m ready to go again.”

Then, he gave an update on his shoulder.

“Shoulder’s been good. It’s been really a non-factor for me ever since kind of, Dover. I feel like I really taken the turn there and I’m back to playing pickleball and things like that. I’m good.”

So far this season, Hamlin has been just fine with that repaired shoulder. Three wins and at the moment, he looks like one of the top championship contenders this season.

Even if that shoulder was bugging him, you wouldn’t be able to tell it. The years are catching up to Denny Hamlin and that means he has to make the most of his opportunities.

Denny Hamlin has chance to add another Crown Jewel

Besides a championship trophy, there isn’t much else that Denny Hamlin has to check off his bucket list in NASCAR. If there is something to be achieved, Hamlin has been there and done that.

Rookie of the Year in the Cup Series. Qualified for the Busch Clash as a rookie because he won a pole during his part-time season. First rookie to qualify for the Chase. Three Daytona 500s, three Southern 500s, three Duels, four Clash wins, and a Coca-Cola 600 win.

Not to mention his wins at Talladega, Pocono, and Bristol and the list is quite impressive. Hamlin has another shot at a Crown Jewel this weekend at the Coke 600. Charlotte has been a good track for him in recent years.

Denny Hamlin will have a real shot at the win again this week. He has been in the mix most weeks, leading at least a lap during each race. Will we see Hamlin pick up his fourth win of the season on Sunday or will he have to wait for another chance?
