
The NASCAR world has been rocked again by terrible news. A former driver died at a still young age, according to reports.
Even before the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series began, fans learned about terrible news involving former and current stars of the competition. Greg Biffle died with his wife and two children in a plane crash in North Carolina and then their home was burglarized weeks after the tragedy.
More recently, fans almost watched another tragedy unfold in front of their eyes when driver Taylor Gray ran over one of his pit crew members during Saturday’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series event.
The latest bad news came to light on Monday. Chase Pistone, a former NASCAR competitor, died at 42. Pistone competed in 10 NASCAR National Series events between 2005 and 2014. He became a prolific driver and team owner in the Legends Car divisions, too.
His brother, Nick Pistone, revealed his death in a Facebook post on Monday.
“Well my young brother and best friend is gone,” Pistone said in the post. “I’m broken hearted and don’t know if I’ll ever get over this. I miss you Chase already and I hope you are you are in a better place. I love you and I miss you so much already!!!!!!!”
Pistone told Legends Nation to encourage people to seek help if they’re struggling with suicidal thoughts.

Chase Pistone made four stars in the now-known as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. He finished 37th in his first career, racing for Braun. His best result came in 2014, when he finished 14th at Iowa Speedway.
