A pair of Hendrick Motorsports teammates have gotten into it a couple times so far at the Iowa Corn 350 on Sunday. Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott have been pinned to each others’ hips through much of the race so far.
That has resulted in some awkward situations between the two on the race track. One restart nearly collected both in a wreck after contact briefly got both drivers loose.
The pack was three-wide at the time, and Kyle Larson seemed to come down into the middle lane on Chase Elliott. The contact with Elliott caused him to get very loose, but somehow he managed to make a spectacular save, keeping the caution from being thrown and any real damage to the car from occurring. You can check out the contact below.

At the time of this writing, Kyle Larson was P9, while Chase Elliott was P10. The race had just come to caution for a wreck involving Denny Hamlin, so the two Hendrick Motorsports teammates were about to restart next to each other yet again.
Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott haven’t been the only two drivers involved in some drama early in the Iowa Corn 350. There was also some testiness from Ryan Blaney following a dust-up with another driver.
Chase Briscoe had his hands full defending the lead during Stage 2 of Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350 at Iowa Speedway. Blaney was right there, but unable to make the pass at any point of their lengthy battle for first place.
Blaney was frustrated with Briscoe. He took issue with Briscoe for mirror driving him.
“What he’s doing is f*cking looking backwards,” Blaney said on his radio, per NASCAR insider Matt Weaver.
Blaney isn’t the first driver upset at another for mirror driving and he won’t be the last. In the Next Gen car, it’s a huge advantage for drivers in the lead to air block and use their rear-view mirror as a tool to hold off their opponents. Of course, every driver has their spotter as well, making it even more difficult for drivers to make a pass for the lead.
On3’s Nick Geddes also contributed to this report.
