Jimmie Johnson’s driver Erik Jones claims he 'is back to 100 percent' after sitting out two races over injury

The Darlington throwback race this weekend will mark the return of Erik Jones to the Cup garage with the No:43 Toyota Camry. He missed out the last two races in Dover and Kansas Speedway. It was because of the serious injury he picked up at Talladega, after a poorly executed all-Toyota drafting move ended him a wreck that collected Jones, Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin .

Erik Jones was replaced by Tricon Garage’s Corey Heim for the two races. The Truck Serie championship driver massive statement performances with his stint with Jimmie Johnson’s team and is set to make Cup return with 23XI Racing’s part-time entry. Darlington is a good track for Jones to make a come, considering he is a two-time race winner there.

While talking about the comeback the TRD driver pointed out that he feels like he is back 100% with the two wees proper rest he has had. He pointed out that he was actually good before the Kansas race but the decision to delay Cup return was made because, he was still feeling some soreness till Friday.

First off, I feel good. The first week out I was obviously pretty sore, tried to rest up and get to feeling better. By last week before Kansas, I was starting to feel pretty good, still had some soreness but this last week really since last Friday, I’ve started to really feel good and feel back to 100 percent. Erik Jones said via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Erik Jones reveals how he has spent the two weeks

Jones while talking about the last two week off the track, he pointed out that he was busy with appointments and getting medical clearance to race as soon as possible. He was also working out in the gym as part of the physical therapy.

You know, the two weeks — really been kinda busy, just staying busy with appointments and working to get cleared and obviously trying to get back in the gym and back in some kind of workout routine to make sure I feel good in the car and my body can handle everything. Erik Jones said.

The ex-JGR driver has already done some sim-tests in order to get back to his 100% before getting into to the car at Darlington. He is looking forward for the practice session before the race to get the feeling for the car back and get out there on Sunday to challenge for success.
