The Great American Race officially takes place this weekend as NASCAR descends on the Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona 500 to kickoff the new season. The race is an annual tradition down in Daytona Beach, Florida and is always a spectacular event.
This year, 23XI Racing is hoping that one of its drivers can take home the title as Corey Heim, Riley Herbst, Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick are all participating. But ahead of the big race on Sunday, the team owned by Michael Jordan debuted a special shoe for the pit crew.
During Thursday’s Duel at Daytona, Jordan Brand unveiled the Air Jordan 9 “Pit Shoe” for pit members of drivers. This shoe is designed specifically for the pit crew of 23XI’s 45 car driven by Tyler Reddick.
The Air Jordan 9 is a classic silhouette that was designed by Tinker Hatfield and released in 1993-94. It became a fan-favorite with some sleek colorways. The shoe made its return as a retro just a few years ago.
This sneaker an almost all-black colorway with a suede upper and leather mudguard. The Air Jordan branding is in red on the tongue as well as the Jumpman on the bottom of the shoe near the heel. The stitched globe also comes in red.

Being designed specifically for pit members, these shoes need to follow NASCAR pit crew protocol. That calls for SFI 3.3/5 rated for fire resistance and feature oil-resistant, high-grip soles for safety on slick surfaces.
These shoes won’t be available for purchase. They are a PE but we are finally seeing some exclusive collabs for 23XI years after the team was created.
