NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick seems to be having a hard time facing his son Keelan on-track. The two have formed a father-son rivalry in Pro Late Model car racing. However, it seems that the 13-year-old prodigy is having it too easy against the former Cup Series champion. So much so, that the junior Harvick did not hesitate from mocking his father after beating him yet again.
Last Saturday, the 13-year-old out-performed his father for a third time this year. The father-son duo have been going up against one another in the Cars Tour. This time around, Kevin Harvick and Keelan were racing at Hickory Speedway.
Keelan Harvick certainly has his father’s genes when it comes to racing. He has already made history after becoming the only driver to win a CARS Tour West race and a regular CARS Tour race on the East Coast. Certainly, a landmark achievement showing what the 13-year-old is capable of.
It seems that the junior Harvick knows how talented he is. So much so, that he is unafraid to even take a shot at his father. Following his win, Keelan Harvick claimed that the reason he has continued to defeat the NASCAR legend is because Kevin Harvick has become out of shape with age. The 49-year-old has indeed taken time off from racing in recent years, perhaps this has made him rusty against his son.
Not as bad as this, but like you said, he’s out of shape and old. So, it’s kinda hard not to [beat him].

For Kevin Harvick, seeing his son do so well against him on-track might be a bitter-sweet feeling. While the NASCAR legend would undoubtedly be proud to see his racing legacy being carried forward by the 13-year-old, his failure to match his son might be ringing alarm bells. Nevertheless, the 49-year-old wants Keelan Harvick to chase his racing dreams and seems to have no remorse for losing.
The former Cup Series champion is delighted to get the opportunity to share the track with his son in the CARS Tour, something that he never expected to happen. Kevin Harvick insisted that he has fun on-track even if he gets annihilated by his son during the race. This further strengthens the bond between the father-son duo.
t’s just so special to be able to do what we’re doing right now. It’s not something that I had really thought about or planned. Even though he kicks my butt, it’s fun to be on the same racetrack. It creates new conversations that we didn’t really have with Legends Cars or go-karts.
Kevin Harvick said, as quoted by Racingamerica.com
This is not the first time Kevin Harvick has applauded his son’s thrilling drives. Previously, the 49-year-old has highlighted that Keelan has learnt spatial awareness and seems to be right at home every time he gets inside the car. At the age of 13, the junior Harvick is making waves. There’s still a long way to go before Keelan Harvick can make his way into the big leagues. Undoubtedly, he will gain a massive fan following even before he makes his NASCAR debut.
