Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick both enjoyed a season of great performance and made their mark on the grid before clinching their spots in the playoffs. Both drivers have continued to maximize points and are looking strong in the playoffs as well. However, things aren’t so well for their team, 23XI Racing, as they cannot stop taking Ls. After losing their charter status amid the legal battle with NASCAR, ex-NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick has fired shots at the Denny Hamlin–Michael Jordan-owned team.
23XI Racing recently lost its appeal for an en banc and was further denied charter status mid-way through the 2025 season. This was a great loss for the team, but Bubba Wallace seemed to be the least concerned about the matter and focused on his performances. The same went for Tyler Reddick, as he did not let the team’s legal battle get in the way of his results.
However, Kevin Harvick took note of the team’s battle and the way it harmed the 23XI driver’s mental. Harvick insisted that the legal dispute annoyed both Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick more than anyone else. The reason is that the two just wanted to race on the track and not let legal matters get in their way.
Kevin Harvick further explained that Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick signed up with the team just to race and go out on the track and do their job. However, they were dragged by the media and questioned regarding things that they did not want to answer. As such, the 49-year-old emphasized that the entire ordeal was definitely getting annoying for both Wallace and Reddick.
I think that the two drivers are probably annoyed more than anything, because they just want to race. They signed up to race, they signed up to go out there and do their job and they’re having to answer questions about stuff that they don’t want to answer questions about, So, at this point, it’s annoying, I’m sure, that they have to deal with it.
Kevin Harvick said on the Happy Hour podcast.
Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick could lose a lot of their running if 23XI Racing does not win the legal battle favorably, with the trial hearing scheduled for 1st December. Both drivers are performing great and are looking at a promising future with the team, if they are able to retain their charter status. If the team loses the status and has to go through the legal troubles again, Kevin Harvick believes it could get really ugly for both Wallace and Reddick.
Kevin Harvick accepted that the entire situation was ‘distracting’ for Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick as they had yet another thing to worry about in their championship ambitions. Although the team participated in all the races in 2025, it could change by 2026. However, Harvick emphasized that the legal battle wasn’t that distracting for the team’s co-owner, Denny Hamlin, as compared to Wallace and Reddick.
It is a distraction. It’s not the same distraction for Denny Hamlin as it is for Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace, because they’re not vested in the ownership of the team and restructuring the league.
Kevin Harvick added.
Apart from the entire legal debacle, Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick have enjoyed a great outing in the 2025 season. Both drivers are well established in their positions in the playoffs and could clear the round of 16 with ease. Now, time will tell how the two pan out in the remainder of the championship races and if they can make it to the championship-4.
