Former NASCAR Cup Series driver Kevin Harvick spent a good portion of this week's "Happy Hour" podcast talking about the Truck Series - and rightfully so.
During last weekend's race at Kansas Speedway, fans were treated to an epic finish thanks to Carson Hocevar. After avoiding a disastrous collision with Layne Riggs at the end of the race, Hocevar stuck his middle finger out the window before crossing the finish line.
Hocevar's gesture didn't sit well with everyone, but he doesn't really care. He just wanted to entertain the crowd on Saturday night.
“I just thought I’d make it entertaining. Were y’all entertained?" Hocevar said following the Heart of America 200. "No, that 34 truck was super, super good. Yeah, this truck was really, really good on the short runs, and I didn’t think he would get to us for how far back he was, but he was super good. It’s been a while since I’ve been in a finish like that where it’s all out there. So, credit to him, you know, I know he’s going for everything there."
It's not often you see a NASCAR driver finish the final lap of a race with his middle finger out the window. That being said, Harvick doesn't have an issue with Hocevar's behavior.
Harvick said the emotion that Hocevar displayed last weekend is good for NASCAR and the Truck Series.
"I love the emotion, I love the antics, and everything that goes with everything at the end of this race," Harvick said, via PFSN. "I think Hocevar is edgy and you know a bit unique, and I think that Layne Riggs is, you know, right on the verge of winning races and pushing the limits. I think it was just two guys going at it to win a race."
Obviously, NASCAR doesn't want drivers flipping each other off on a consistent basis. Once in a while might not hurt though.
Do you agree with Harvick that Hocevar's behavior is actually good for the sport?
