Our Motorsports has filled a crucial hole in its 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series driver lineup.
Kris Wright, a 30-year-old driver from Pittsburgh, Pa., was tapped to drive the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro in the Xfinity Series in 2025 on Wednesday, replacing Anthony Alfredo. 2025 will be Wright’s first full-time season of NASCAR Xfinity Series competition.
Wright has previously run full-time in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series. He is still searching for his first victory in a NASCAR series. Alfredo’s plans for the 2025 season are still unknown.
Wright has made 16 starts in the Xfinity Series, making his debut at the Daytona road course in February 2021. His most recent Xfinity Series start came at Phoenix Raceway in the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race.
The move comes as Our Motorsports is expected to have a brand-new Xfinity Series lineup in 2025, which Wright will make up half of. For a team searching for stability as it improves its performance, signing a veteran such as Wright could be pivotal to its future success.
At 30 years old, Wright’s career path is more akin to that of a driver in the 1980s or 1990s rather than the host of young talent currently making its way through the ranks of NASCAR. However, taking the scenic route on his path up the ladder may not be a bad thing, as many prior prospects who were rushed in their development quickly fell to the wayside.
In Wright’s first full-time opportunity with a team that’s a playoff contender, he’ll be able to put his talents on display.
