Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch made some huge business decisions since making his NASCAR debut with the No:8 team of Richard Childress Racing. One of those major decisions was selling his championship-winning Truck Series team, Kyle Busch Motorsports . Busch sold the race shop and company assets to Spire Motorsports for $14.5 million.
Spire acquired the KBM shop as part of their expansion project to become a three-car operation and race-win contender. During the NASCAR production days, Busch confirmed that despite the sale, KBM, which has given Toyota some of its best drivers, will continue its operations outside the NASCAR national series.
The No:8 Chevy Camaro ZL1 driver pointed out that the team, which now has a small number of employees, will field cars for him and his son, Brexton Busch, at the grassroots level of the sport. But Busch misses his times with his team over the years, winning races and working with his crew from the beginning.
I definitely miss the Truck Series team a little bit. KBM still exists. We’re just racing at the grassroots level with me and Brex. But I’m obviously missing the people that were there and going into the shop and seeing them every single day or every week or whatever it might have been. That’s the part that I feel like I was going to miss from the start and kind of still do a little bit. Busch told Fox Sports (H&T: On3.com).
