Kyle Larson makes eye-opening comments following High Limit win at Eldora

Last night, Kyle Larson and his High Limit Racing series starred on FS1 with a joint broadcast with FloRacing. Larson ended up winning the Eldora race and picked up a $100,000 check in the process. Then, he started another dirt racing vs. NASCAR debate.

Kyle Larson has caused controversy in the past with his comments about sprint car racing. Look, folks, he loves it. It is his passion and that much is obvious. But there are certain fans who use those comments to disparage Larson. Others use it as fuel for the dirt vs. pavement debates.

In the spotlight, with a national cable-broadcast crowd watching, Larson was excellent. He won a big-time race, and maybe he’s broken the bad mojo he’s had since Memorial Day weekend.

He also stepped into the sprint car vs. NASCAR debate by accident. You can’t blame a guy for speaking his mind. These are very interesting comments, though, and show how Larson views different forms of racing.

“It’s hard to describe, and I think a lot of fans see me race on Sundays and they have a misconception of sprint car racing, that this isn’t, you know, professional, and I come ‘down’ to win these races,” Kyle Larson explained to FloRacing. “But it is the toughest form of racing I get a chance to be a part of. So, the quality of equipment, the quality of drivers, the fans, everybody involved. Everybody’s, you know, partners and sponsors. This is as professional as it gets for American auto racing. So, happy to be a part of it, happy to be a part of High Limit Racing, and FloRacing having us on FS1 night. Can’t say enough about it.”

The toughest form of racing? Those are bold words from Kyle Larson. Then again, can you blame him? In that race he won specifically, there were multiple examples of how difficult and challenging and dangerous dirt racing can be.

Sprint cars go unbelievable speeds on the tiniest race tracks. If you’ve ever watched an onboard video, the noise, movement, and lighting during these night races makes it all disorienting. It’s a miracle you can even do a lap, let alone an entire race.

Kyle Larson loves Eldora Speedway. This is a big week for the track. They are also hosting the World of Outlaws. More chances for Larson to pick up wins.

“It’s really cool to come here to an awesome facility,” Larson continued. “The crowd is just going to get bigger and bigger as the week goes on, and hopefully we can get a few more wins. Give me some momentum to lean into a NASCAR race, finally, this week would be nice.”
