Kyle Larson paces NASCAR All-Star Race practice at Dover

Kyle Larson hasn't won a points-paying NASCAR Cup Series race in over a calendar year, but his chances of winning Sunday's exhibition NASCAR All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway look good after he was fastest in Friday's NASCAR Cup Series practice session. 

Larson laid down a fastest lap of 22.792 seconds around the one-mile oval during the 90-minute session, which is the only practice of the weekend before qualifying on Saturday and Sunday's race. 

Michael McDowell, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch and Ty Gibbs rounded out the top five, with Christopher Bell, Ryan Blaney, Carson Hocevar, Brad Keselowski and Austin Cindric completing the top 10. 

Other notable drivers include Chase Elliott in 12th, Bubba Wallace in 15th, rookie Connor Zilisch in 17th, William Byron in 21st and Cup Series points leader Tyler Reddick in 25th. 

Todd Gilliland was the slowest driver in the session (36th), turning a fastest lap of 23.643 seconds. 

Saturday's qualifying session will see drivers run a lap at full speed, come down pit road for a pit stop and go back out to complete their lap. All 36 cars will start the first 75-lap segment of Sunday's race before an inversion of the field ahead of the second 75-lap segment. 

The final 200 laps of Sunday's race will be contested by only 26 drivers racing for $1 million. 

Qualifying will begin at noon ET Saturday, with coverage on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Sunday's NASCAR All-Star Race will begin at 1 p.m. ET, with coverage on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
