The Pennzoil 400 was run this afternoon in the Las Vegas desert as the NASCARCup Series crowned its 5th race winner of the 2026 season. The race was contentious between many high-caliber racers, including Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott. However, Denny Hamlin went on to defend late in the race as the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota hit victory lane.

The top-10 was rounded out by mostly expected names, including a nice race comeback for Chase Briscoe, a third-straight top-10 for Ty Gibbs, and Chase Elliott, plus William Byron earned 2nd and 3rd places.

Race Winners

Denny Hamlin captured his first race win of the season, earning Toyota an expected victory lane appearance after stealing five of the top seven qualifying spots.

Chase Elliott battled back with a strong second-place finish, much needed for the No. 9 team. If Elliott had another five laps, he might have gotten Hamlin with his late-run pace.

Ty Gibbs earns another top-5 finish, continuing his surge towards the top-10 of the driver standings.

Chase Briscoe overcame pit road speeding and earned an 8th-place finish, his second top-10 of 2026. The No. 19 needed this badly after back-to-back last-place finishes.

Race Losers

Shane van Gisbergen nearly wrecked on lap one, but saved himself. The save mattered none as the New Zealander finished in last place.

Connor Zilisch failed to get anything going as this Trackhouse Racing team looked terrible, to be frank. Zilisch finished 32nd.

Kyle Busch can't get anything right, and there seems to be no answer, earning a 28th-place finish.
