Despite winning two races so far in 2026 and being second in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Layne Riggs' NASCAR future is somewhat uncertain.
The third-year driver for Front Row Motorsports does not yet have concrete plans for next season despite a successful Truck Series career so far.
"Undetermined at the moment," Riggs said Friday regarding his 2027 plans. "That's something that I actually don't know about yet. It's been great to race for Front Row. Just kind of waiting for whatever Bob Jenkins or Jerry Freeze has in the cards for me."
Riggs did say say "as far as I know, yes" when asked if he is locked down with FRM, but doesn't know if his ride will be in the Truck Series or not.
"It's kind of an option-style contract," Riggs said. "It's more up to their decision."
Riggs has won seven Truck Series races in 64 starts. A rough start to his rookie season in 2024 gave way to two victories late in the campaign, while he won three races and finished fifth in the standings in 2025.
Riggs earned his first win of 2026 at St. Petersburg on Feb. 27 and also won the most recent Truck Series race at Charlotte on May 24. After qualifying for Friday's rain-delayed race at Nashville Superspeedway was rained out, Riggs was awarded the pole via the NASCAR rulebook.
