An inspired drive from NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Layne Riggs in Saturday's Heart of Health Care 200 at Kansas Speedway is now all for naught.
Riggs originally finished second to race winner Carson Hocevar in Saturday's race, but an issue with the truck bed on his No. 34 Ford F-150 was enough to get Riggs disqualified in post-race inspection.

The disqualification will relegate Riggs from second to 31st in the finishing order, and will also strip him of the 14 stage points he earned in the race.
Riggs gave Hocevar a run for his money on the final lap, making contact with Hocevar's Silverado in turns 1 and 2. Hocevar ended up driving away from Riggs, but in the end, a winning pass from Riggs wouldn't have mattered anyway.

Riggs has had a solid start to the 2025 Truck Series season, and was sixth in points with four top-10 finishes to his credit before the disqualification. While the DQ shouldn't drop him out of the provisional playoff picture, it will put the second-year driver much closer to the playoff bubble than he'd like to be.
Riggs, a short-track ace who won at the Milwaukee Mile and Bristol in 2024, will have an excellent shot at redemption on May 17 when the Truck Series races at North Wilkesboro Speedway in the Window World 250.
