Ty Gibbs was fastest in Saturday's NASCAR Cup Series practice session at Kansas Speedway, laying down a lap of 29.97 seconds around the 1.5-mile track.
Gibbs was over a tenth of a second faster than Michael McDowell, who was the second-fastest driver in the session.

McDowell, Alex Bowman, Bubba Wallace and William Byron rounded out the top-five, with Tyler Reddick, Josh Berry, Austin Cindric, Kyle Larson and Ross Chastain completing the top-10.
Other notable practice results include Chris Buescher in 13th, Christopher Bell in 14th, Chase Elliott in 16th, Kyle Busch in 22nd and Corey Heim in 27th.
The practice session was marred by tire failures, as Shane van Gisbergen, Chase Briscoe, Brad Keselowski and Gibbs all suffered flat left-rear tires. Zane Smith also had a right-rear tire go flat after making contact with the wall.
Potential tire issues only add another wrinkle to a race that will undoubtedly be chock-full of storylines.
