NASCAR Sends Three-Word Message to Jimmie Johnson After Daytona 500

Retired from full-time racing, Jimmie Johnson showed that there was still gas left in his tank after a surprising podium finish on Sunday in the 2025 Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Johnson, who started in the 40th position, won the Daytona 500 in 2006 and 2013, and finished Sunday’s race third overall – behind winning driver William Byron and runner-up Tyler Reddick. The 49-year-old Johnson never led a lap but the fact that he finished the race despite a 10-car crash on lap 71 says a lot about the abilities of the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.

The NASCAR’s official X account made sure to give Johnson a shout-out after the event.

“Still got it,” read NASCAR’s post that also shows a photo of Johnson out of his No. 84 Toyota car.

Fans had a lot to say about NASCAR’s Johnson post, with many showing their respect for the legendary driver.

“Great result by 7x,” said a fan.

“ sill got it,” commented another.

“Should maybe sign up for a few more races,” a social media user opined.

“Drove up front in the top 10-15 all race not surprised tbh,” admitted a fan.

Another one said: “I HATED Jimmie when I was a kid because he won all the time, but I was thrilled for him today. Congrats 7-Time.”

Although he exceeded expectations in the Daytona 500, don’t expect Johnson to race a lot in 2025. He set out with a plan to participate in just two races this year – the Daytona 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on May 25.
