NASCAR team owner’s pricy purchase covers half of Barrett-Jackson donations

Barrett-Jackson’s 2025 Scottsdale Auction is the Super Bowl for car buyers and sellers.

Automotive enthusiasts line up and cast their bids for some of the most exotic, classic and newest vehicles to graze the streets. Some purchasers are able to put down a little bit more money than others.

NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick has an undying love for cars and the cash to buy whatever he wants.

Hendrick’s net worth is estimated at $1 billion according to Sportskeeda, making him the the third richest NASCAR owner by $700 million. Cars probably come a dime a dozen for automotive tycoon, who has been in the racing industry for more than six decades.

The businessman’s seemingly endless amount of cash just made him the owner of the first purchasable model of one of 2025’s newest cars.

Hendrick outbid everyone to claim the first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 for $3.7 billion dollars at the Scottsdale Auction on Saturday.

The Corvette purchase was made as a part of the auction’s charitable sale. Hendrick contributed to more than half of the $5.2 million dollar charity sales Saturday. The remaining $1.5 million was filled in with a gavel slamming on a 1962 Dodge Power Wagon custom truck.

The American Red Cross will receive 100% of the profit from Hendrick’s latest grab. Barrett-Jackson Chairman and CEO Craig Jackson, President Steve Davis and Corvette Chief Engineer Josh Holder revealed the money will be used to assist individuals affected by the recent California wildfires and hurricanes in the southeastern region of the country.

The NASCAR icon is a regular when it comes to giving back by way of Barrett-Jackson. His new Corvette brings his donation contribution to $28 million in the last 20 years by spending on the Barrett-Jackson auction block.

Hendrick has showcased 14 NASCAR Cup champions as an owner. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2017.
