Report: Former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle-owned plane crashes at Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina

A plane that crashed at Statesville Regional Airport this morning, according to records, belonged to NASCAR driver Greg Biffle. Emergency crews have responded to the scene, and more information will be released soon.

As of right now, there is no word on who was on the plane at the time of the crash. There is no confirmation on how many people were on board when the wreck happened.

WSOC-TV reports that the Cessna C550 with tail number N257BW was the plane that crashed. That plane is owned by GB Aviation Leasing, which is tied to the same address as Biffle. WSOC is also reporting that there are fatalities from the wreck.

Greg Biffle has, in recent years, earned as much of a reputation as a pilot as a driver. Biffle and his aircrafts have helped respond to multiple natural disasters. When North Carolinians needed help after Hurricane Helene, Biffle was there to respond.

Reports from this morning noted the rain and low visibility in the area around the time of the crash. There have been multiple videos and reports from eyewitnesses throughout the aftermath of the crash.

Investigations are ongoing. All the information we know at this moment is that the plane is owned by Greg Biffle. Again, no word on who was on the plane at the time.

Since the news has come out, the NASCAR community has reacted online. Drivers and others in the sport have posted asking for prayers and positive thoughts. The Biffle family is in our thoughts and prayers as we wait for more information to come out.

Greg Biffle-owned plane crashes in North Carolina

During the last few years, Greg Biffle has made himself available to those in need during the worst times of their lives. Flying resources and supplies to those in need after natural disasters has become kind of a second job for Biffle recently.

When Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica earlier this year, Biffle said he would be available. Biffle prepared a rescue and relief response by air and boat back in October. At the time, he said the biggest challenges would be not knowing the terrain or geography as well as he would have back home in North Carolina.

As we wait to find out more about this plane crash, our thoughts and prayers are with all involved.
