RFK Racing takes another shot at Kansas ahead of Darlington
Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

This week RFK Racing made sure to go out and check the finish line at Darlington before the NASCAR Cup Series goes racing. Last week at Kansas the team was a little dejected after Chris Buescher lost by 0.001 seconds, with a crooked finish line to boot.

Of course, the painted finish line is not the official line. So, if the paint is a bit crooked, it’s okay, the cameras and timing system have a perfectly straight line right where it needs to be.

Still, the RFK Racing group didn’t feel great after last week. At least they’re having a little bit of fun this week in Darlington. The social media team made sure to go out and get a photo of the start-finish line ahead of Sunday.

Everything appears to be in order.

A nice straight line for everyone to see. Let’s hope that we see another great race like last week. Although I doubt we see another finish like last week. Then again, we’ve already had two of the closest finishes in NASCAR history if you throw in Atlanta – so who is to say we won’t see another?

Darlington is a place where you can really race these Next Gen cars. We are going to see drivers fighting hard on Sunday looking for a win at The Lady in Black.

If all goes well for RFK Racing, then Chris Buescher should find himself in the mix once again this week.

RFK Racing hoping to get redemption from Kansas

The best way to get over losing the closest race in NASCAR history is to go and win the next one. Chris Buescher has never won at Darlington. However, he’s been getting better at the track in recent years.

Last season in the Goodyear 400, Buescher started P27 and finished P10. It was a strong effort. In the Southern 500 last year, Buescher qualified P8 and finished P3. So, he has speed to contend for wins. He just has to figure out how to get his car upfront.

RFK Racing has had luck on these fast tracks. Darlington is a bit rougher than Kansas or Atlanta, though. The track is rough, drivers are going to get up and into the wall. It isn’t as simple as holding down the gas and turning left.

This weekend could be another good one for Chris Buescher. He and his team need a strong showing to shake off last week’s loss. Those heartbreakers are the ones that can derail a team’s morale. How do you think RFK Racing will perform this weekend?
