Richard Childress Racing announces Dow sponsorship extension with Austin Dillon

Richard Childress Racing announced Sunday the extension of its partnership with Dow to remain a sponsor for the No. 3 Chevrolet piloted by Austin Dillon.

Dow and RCR’s partnership dates back to 2014, Dillon’s rookie campaign in the NASCAR Cup Series. Dillon has claimed several career milestones with Dow, including his Daytona 500 pole as a rookie, as well as his victories in the 2017 Coca-Cola 600 and 2018 Daytona 500.

“Dow’s relationship has been one of the most personal and authentic relationships of my motorsports career,” Dillon said in a statement. “I’ve really enjoyed meeting Dow employees globally, some of which have become close friends. We’ve seen first-hand the power of the partnership with programs such as the Dow Salutes Veterans program growing each year, and customers from a variety of businesses finding value in their relationship with Dow through their at-track experience.

“Dow has supported me since day 1 in the NASCAR Cup Series, and it means a lot to know that Dow scientists are working behind the scenes to extract every ounce of speed we can from our Chevys. I’m proud to be associated with one of the world’s foremost materials science companies and will do my best to represent Dow both on and off track.”

Austin Dillon optimistic about appeal chances after controversial Richmond win

Dillon has had a whirlwind of a week coming out of last Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Richmond, in which he intentionally wrecked Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin on the final lap to take the checkered flag. NASCAR revoked his playoff eligibility Wednesday and docked him 25 points.

Dillon and his team are appealing NASCAR’s ruling, which they remain optimistic about.

“I am. I feel pretty good about it,” Dillon said Saturday. “You know I think Denny Hamlin has a podcast about the appeal process. He lays it out pretty well in how the appeal usually works, and I think that is why he was very forthcoming early in the week on his opinion of everything because the appeals process isn’t easy. But we will do a good job on our side to try and cover all of our bases and see what the outcome really is.”

Dillon will start 10th in Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan.
