Sheldon Creed already owned the record for the most runner-up finishes without a win in NASCAR Xfinity Series history before Friday's race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Creed passed his Haas Factory Team teammate in Sam Mayer for second on the final lap, but didn't quite have enough to get to the lead.
After a Turn 4 dive-bomb failed on the final lap of Friday's Food City 300, Creed notched his 15th career runner-up finish and could only watch as Aric Almirola snagged the victory.

There's plenty of good for Creed to glean from Friday's race. He's now above the playoff cut line going into Kansas, and the No. 00 team has some momentum after the first race of the 2025 playoffs. He also found a way to bounce back after an early speeding penalty, showing resolve that will be invaluable throughout the postseason.
But his first win still eluded him.
"I kinda shipped it in there in (turns) three and four, knowing I wasn't going to get there," Creed told CW Sports after the race.
Creed has been close to winning throughout his Xfinity Series career, as his 15 second-place finishes indicate. Friday's race will go down as another example of a heartbreaking loss — but one that will make his first win, should he get it, that much sweeter.
