A significant front office hire for Trackhouse Racing. They have lured Todd Meredith away from Joe Gibbs Racing. Back-to-back wins on the track with Shane van Gisbergen, and now a new hire for president of racing operations.
Todd Meredith spent decades with JGR in the competition and operations departments. However, he stepped down as Chief Operating Officer in 2016. Credited with helping JGR launch itself into NASCAR, he has a wealth of experience that Trackhouse will find beneficial.
“I feel at home in NASCAR and wanted to return in some form,” Meredith said in a statement. “The more I talked with Justin, the more I was excited by his vision of Trackhouse Racing. The team is very talented and quite successful, as you have seen in the last few months, but we want even more.”
Another big-time hire by Justin Marks. Trackhouse Racing continues to evolve with the times.
Trackhouse Racing has four wins this season between Ross Chastain and Shane van Gisbergen. They have won, arguably, three of the biggest races of the season. The Coca-Cola 600 for Chastain, and SVG won at the inaugural Mexico City race and returned to Victory Lane in Chicago.
There is a lot of change going on at Trackhouse. This hire is another example of how the team is always adapting and changing to stay relevant and competitive.
With how well Ross Chastain does when he has a car he is comfortable with, you would think he’d have more wins. Consistent speed has been missing from Trackhouse Racing this season. Chastain called is out earlier this season and then went on to win the 600.
Even with the struggles, Chastain is no doubt a great talent in the Cup Series. He has race wins on the road, intermediate tracks, a superspeedway, and even the one-mile “short track” at Phoenix. His skillset is diverse.
In 2026, Shane van Gisbergen will return. He has three wins and could have a fourth later this year at Watkins Glen or the Roval. He is third in playoff points this season. But there is another addition that hasn’t officially been announced, but will soon be.
Connor Zilisch will most likely take up the third spot at Trackhouse in the Cup Series next season. He will be 19 years old for half the season and could find himself in Victory Lane early, and possibly often. Zilisch is the only driver in NASCAR to beat SVG in his last five road course races across Xfinity and Cup (Mexico Cup, Chicago Xfinity/Cup, Sonoma Xfinity/Cup).
Trackhouse Racing has a bright future. They have three drivers that could end up being superstars. Those road course battles between Zilisch and SVG are going to be epic next year. Chastain is going to be smashing melons. It will be a good time, and good for NASCAR. Todd Meredith is going to help guide them into this next chapter.
