Tyler Reddick wins Goodyear 400 pole award at Darlington in Tim Richmond throwback

Last week was not what 23XI Racing wanted, it wasn’t what Tyler Reddick wanted. On the intermediate tracks, Reddick and Bubba Wallace expect to compete for the win. If not that, they expect to be in the top-five at the very least.

One thing to watch for is the RFK Racing cars. Both Chris Buescher and Brad Keselowski made the final round of qualifying. Keselowski will fire off P2 and Buescher P3. A win this weekend could wipe away the paint of Kansas from a week ago.

Ty Gibbs, William Byron, Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace, Ross Chastain, and Christopher Bell round out the top-10 in qualifying.

Tyler Reddick earns seventh career pole

This is the first time Tyler Reddick has won the pole since the Charlotte Roval last season. It is his first pole award for an oval since Richmond-2 in 2023. Darlington is a track that is not very forgiving, and it won’t be easy for Reddick to lead wire to wire on Sunday.

Toyota was strong as a whole. That’s no surprise. In the Next Gen era, Toyota has been quick on the intermediate tracks. That has translated to great qualifying results and of course, great results in the races themselves.

Even though they were a little bit slower, I think the Hendrick drivers are going to have a say in things on Sunday. William Byron and Kyle Larson were not far off the pace and I think in the race they will both move up quickly and fight for the lead.

Tyler Reddick has the pole. That’s step one. Now he just has to win Stage 1, win the second stage, and hopefully, bring it home for the checkered flag in the end. An up-and-down season could be set on the right course with another win this weekend for the 45 team.
